Bedrooms...Where It All Happens

Last night I was going through two of my favorite sites, elledecor.com and marieclairemaison.com looking for inspiring houses to share, and I have to say, I found many beautiful images, but there wasn't exactly one house where I could say I loved every single room.  But I guess that makes sense because your style is completely your own, and no one else's, so it would be almost impossible to find another's house exactly how you would want your own. When I couldn't find anything "good enough" my my little blog, I decided to flip through my image files I have saved on my computer, and thought maybe it would be fun to do a little series. So every Monday for the next few weeks (don't worry I know today is Tuesday...getting a slow start this week), I'll showcase all of my favorite bedrooms/bathrooms/hallways/kitchens from multiple houses. This week we will start with bedrooms...where all the magic is... :)

Oh Anne...

I have two weddings coming up in October and I've been looking for a dress to wear to both but cannot find a darn thing that's in my price range and beautiful/fun/edgy. At least it won't be the same group of people so I can get away with wearing the same dress! If only I could find a vintage Chanel like this...I love how it's girly yet edgy with the colors and triangle shapes. Rachel Zoe, if you are out there, I'd really like to borrow this....

Style and Substance...

Last night I went to the launch party of Elle Decor's new book, Style and Substance: The Best of Elle Decor. I'm so excited to have a new design book to browse through! It is a compilation of the most incredible homes Elle Decor has featured over the past 20 years. The party was such a success, it was supposed to be held at Bergdorf's 7th floor restaurant which, as I'm sure many of you know, was decorated by Kelly Werstler, but was moved to the 2nd floor as 600 people RSVP'd YES! There are a LOT of people that love beautiful homes! Not only is it beautiful pictures but includes the below which is of utmost help!

-  Trade secrets and essential inside information from A-list designers, architects, and tastemakers
- User-friendly Style Guide boxes with experts’ how-to advice and decorating ideas for every room
- A sourcebook that provides a list of the magazine’s favorite shops and websites for everything you need to furnish your home, all in a wide range of price points.

Domino gave tips and ideas similar to this as well and before their site went down, I printed off everything I could. So happy to now have Elle Decor's guide as the asthetic is a bit different. We need all the knowledge we can get!

Fall...

Today is the first official day of fall for all of us here in the southern hemisphere, and what better way to celebrate than posting a few images that just look like fall. Maybe it's because they are more 'rustic-looking' images. As I've already mentioned many times, it's my favorite season, and I am in the mood....The above porch looks amazing to curl up on with hot chocolate...or even better, coffee and baily's. Does anyone know if the blanket is Hermes? Adore the color...

Not sure where you can shower outdoors in the fall (other than Texas, but then again they don't even have a fall), but loved this outdoorsy image anyways!

I wish I had...

messy hair...the really cool kind that looks perfect. Perfect being you rolled out of bed but somehow don't look sloppy. Just carefree...

Next Stop...Paris

I find it a bit ironic that I have been doing this blog for not even one month, yet this is the fourth hotel I've featured. I hesitated putting up this post because I felt like homes would be more interesting and reflect personality more, but after second thought, that isn't necessarily true. I had to look through hundreds of hotels for a project recently,  and I have to say, there are a LOT of bad hotels out there. It's not that they are necessarily bad service/unclean/bad location, it's just that they are decorated absolutely horribly. Even some of the more well-known, luxury hotels have a very "mass" look to them (or at least to me they do). That's why when I came across Hotel Verneuil I fell in love. Located in Saint Germain des Pres, the hotel is only 26 rooms and each one is decorated differently to keep the atmosphere of a private home, which should be the main goal of boutique and luxury hotels...to emulate the comforts of home, away from home. I think I know where I'm staying the next time I'm in Paris...

Somebody Told Me About Carla Bruni

My obsession began when I stumbled upon her music on itunes. iTunes took my curiosity to her website. Her website lead me to buy any magazine which had her on the cover. First it was Vogue, then Vanity Fair, and now a documentary last week on the Sundance channel that was the pinnacle of my interest. I am officially obssessed. The documentary, Somebody Told Me About Carla Bruni, showed her natural, laid back style when she is not attending political functions.  Her breathy voice paired with an acoustic guitar makes unbelieveable music for dinner parties- I highly recommend Quelqu'un m'a dit.  Her single band for a wedding ring I beyond adore. There is nothing about Carla Bruni Sarkozy that I seem to not like. We won't mention the scandalous rumors that seem to surround her, but she seemed to have such a relaxed nature and down to earth manner. A former model, she is not only educated (which is not so common with models), but made it clear to Sarkozy that when they marry, her career would not be a politician's wife, it would be as a musician. Even the covers of her albums are some of the more beautiful I've seen (below is an image from one of her CDs).  I hope we will see more from her in the future....which I think is a large possibility.

Below are the covers of two of her albums...tres chic!
